From 2006-2009 I owned a business with 12 employees. I closed my doors in 2009. I lost my home in 2010. I lived in my truck for six months. Now I rent a tiny room. I have no health insurance.
While my daddy lived in his truck, I lived with my mommy in an apartment her friend let us live in. She bought my food with food stamps.

every night, holly waits til i’ve got the blankets just where i want them… and then she screws them all up and pulls them down and fights with me about it until finally she gives up and throws her pudgy butt down next to me and surrenders. this dog reminded me of that lol
day 19 of my previous post of 30 people to write to: my younger self (because i do it in any order i want to!!)
dear little me,
i hope i can write this without tearing up, because i’m freakishly overly sensitive to any kind of emotion and if it’s even the slightest bit below the unicorns and bunnies happy level, i lose it. i’d like to ask you why that is, because i can’t remember when i became that way and therefore can’t remember what could’ve triggered it.
but anyway, if me from the future could really tell you what i know now, i would sing you that song from dumbo. or atleast i would google the lyrics and show you them and say THIS IS YOUR ADVICE because if i tried to sing it i would cry. specifically, the lines, “little one when you play, don’t you mind what they say, let those eyes sparkle and shine, never a tear, baby of mine. if they knew sweet little you, they’d end up loving you too.”
basically, you were not the only one that got made fun of. you were not the only one that took it to heart. you were not the only one that got hurt. it’s a fact of life, sadly, and i wish everyone could go back and tell their little selves that what you didn’t believe back then really is true. other people make fun of you because there’s something wrong with THEM, not you.
so please, little self, don’t take it to heart. you were and will be beautiful, smart, and a wonderful loving person.
oh, and be nicer to your daddy. he’s gonna pay for your college someday.
